Yunnan Dehong Nongling Hydropower Project
Description: Yunnan Dehong Nongling Hydropower Project is a new built
hydropower project started in March, 2006. The total installed capacity of the project is 180 MW (90 MW×2). The generated electricity will be delivered to regional power grid i.e. Southern China Power Grid (SCPG) which is a fuel-fired power plants dominant power grid. The purpose of the project is to generate electricity by using water resources to alleviate electricity shortage in Southern China. The project will contribute to the reduction of GHG emission by displacing part of the electricity supplied by SCPG, and the expected annual GHG emission reductions over the first crediting period is 674,285 tCO2e/yr, which will be contribute to alleviation of climate change. In addition, the project will be beneficial to:
(a) The project will provide high quality clean electricity to Southern China. The project activity can increase 1422 temporary and 40 permanent employment opportunities for local residents during construction and operation of the project, which will increase income of the local residents. It is helpful to local socio-economic development.
